MY ARTISTIC JOURNEY

I’m the daughter of a Mexicano from Jalisco, Mexico, and a Chicana from Texas, and my art reflects that rich cultural blend. Growing up, I was surrounded by the traditions, strength, and resilience of my heritage, which continue to shape my creative expression.

My work is deeply influenced by the bold colors, powerful symbols, and ancestral stories that connect me to my roots. Through every piece, I celebrate the beauty of my Mexicano, Chicana, and Indigenous identity—honoring the past while creating something new.

Mayda Murillo is a Las Vegas-based artist whose work explores resilience, memory, and transformation. A survivor and mother of four, she turns to painting as a way of reclaiming her voice and reshaping her story. Each piece becomes an act of healing — taking pain and loss and transforming them into beauty that resonates on an emotional level.

Inspired by family, life experiences, and the enduring bonds that transcend time, Mayda creates art that invites reflection and connection. Her work is both deeply personal and universally human, offering a reminder of the power of creativity to restore, empower, and renew.
